i still love her

i was a whipper snapper
i listened with a rappers delight
mesmerised by her wordplay
the nineties solidified my love
every facet of her
from east to west
from afrocentric to gangster
the hieroglyphics to native tongues
what n.w.a and wu done changed her
but i still loved her

she became gangsta with a martial arts philosophy
spitting illmatic verses to me
taught me the mysteries of chessboxing
whilst giving me electric relaxation
straight from the soul
then she got ignorant materialistic on me
living for champas, versace, gucci and ice
she went through a cri-sis
whacking top guys from the list
got dangerous to be around
but i still loved her

despite going through life changes
various cycles in many places
getting upset at the weak stages
had to dig deep my relationship became cynical
until she was in hospital
shit was critical
i was hysterical she was pronounced dead
i couldn't accept this
the love of my life dead
what a head trip
but then as if by miracle
realness like a breath of life
came into her
i was exposed to new facets
of her hip hop...
i still and will always love her
